ROBOTIS (CEO Kim Byung-soo), a company specializing in autonomous driving robots, announced on the 12th that its indoor and outdoor autonomous driving robot 'GAEMI' won the main prize in the public design category of the German 'iF Design Award 2024', achieving double crowns.

The iF Design Award, hosted by the International Forum in Germany, is considered one of the world's top three design awards, along with the Red Dot Design Award in Germany and the IDEA Award in the United States. This year, over 10,000 works were submitted from 72 countries around the world.

GAEMI was honored with the award in recognition of its efforts to increase customer satisfaction through active function improvements and updates based on data accumulated over many years, as well as its excellence in consumer-friendly design.

ROBOTIS' autonomous robots are largely divided into indoor and outdoor types, and are all collectively called GAEMI. They are divided into indoor GAEMI and outdoor GAEMI based on their functionality and appearance.

The outdoor autonomous robot, which lives up to its name as an ant, has a friendly design with blinking eyes, antenna-like feelers, and a body divided into a torso and legs. It is analyzed that this design also influenced the judges' votes at this award.

The existing design of the indoor autonomous robot had an octagonal shape with a right-angled finish, but in the second half of last year, it was completely replaced with a rounded curved finish design, minimizing the risk of contact. The color was also changed from the existing monotone to a white background with blue corner points for easier identification. It received high marks for being a design change for consumer safety and convenience.

Meanwhile, ROBOTIS, as a leading autonomous robot company, provides delivery services in various spaces and is taking the lead in commercializing delivery services using autonomous robots along with securing data.

The indoor autonomous robot GAEMI is the first autonomous robot in Korea to be equipped with a robotic arm. Therefore, it can operate elevator buttons, tag security cards, knock, etc. without separate communication linkage, allowing free movement between floors, and is receiving great responses in offices, hotels, hospitals, etc.

The outdoor autonomous robot is the first in Korea to obtain safety certification for outdoor mobile robot operation, solidifying its position in the domestic service robot industry. It currently provides outdoor delivery services in various areas of daily life such as apartment complexes, resorts, and campsites, and runs day and night for the convenience of consumers.

Through a recent business agreement with the coffee franchise 'Coffee Evanhada', you will be able to see the outdoor autonomous robot GAEMI that delivers coffee directly at the service site. Starting with the introduction in the first half of the year, we plan to introduce about 100 units sequentially.

Kim Byeong-su, CEO of ROBOTIS , said, “The autonomous robot GAEMI is the result of ROBOTIS' unique technology and know-how in both hardware and software,” and added, “We will devote ourselves even more to research and development with the goal of entering a stable orbit for the commercialization of autonomous robots and business expansion in the future.”
