14th Mar 2024

Kim Byung-soo, CEO of ROBOTIS, said in an interview with News Fim on the 23rd, "I wish we had collaborated well from the beginning, but in fact, we have been conducting our own businesses. However, it was only recently that we decided to collaborate again." Kim added, "We have recently come to a better understanding of what each of us is good at."

LG Electronics acquired shares in ROBOTIS by participating in ROBOTIS' paid-in capital increase in 2017. As of the end of the second quarter of this year, LG Electronics' stake was 7.8% (961,550 shares).

At the 2019 CES in Las Vegas, USA, the two companies unveiled a prototype of a jointly developed autonomous robot module and announced plans for mass production, but have not revealed any clear results of their collaboration since then.

In addition, in the interview, CEO Kim mentioned the expected timing of turning a profit, plans for overseas expansion to the U.S., Japan, etc. and plans for increasing shareholder value.
