ROBOTIS Co., Ltd. unveiled the next-generation actuator 'DYNAMIXEL Y' to be released in the second half of the year at the 'Smart Factory & Automobile Industry Exhibition 2023' held at COEX in Seoul from the 8th to the 10th. At this exhibition, ROBOTIS plans to enhance the series by introducing the high-performance frameless motor-based DYNAMIXEL Y, following the DYNAMIXEL X and DYNAMIXEL P.

According to ROBOTIS on the 8th, the DYNAMIXEL Y unveiled this time is a core component in the robot drive process from automated facilities to collaborative robots and boasts superior speed, control, and durability compared to the existing DYNAMIXEL series. Unlike the existing DYNAMIXEL X and P series, it allows users to optionally purchase a brake for safety and a cycloid reducer (DYD) with excellent shock resistance and durability based on the high torque, speed, responsiveness, and controllability of the direct drive, and configure a module.

A ROBOTIS official explained, "The basic model including the motor and controller can be equipped with a brake and a high-precision cycloid reducer (DYD) as options," and "We plan to provide an integrated all-in-one module depending on the user's needs."

In addition, the DYNAMIXEL Y is equipped with a multi-turn absolute encoder so it can recognize the current position the moment the power is turned on. This minimizes the time and cost required for the zero point initialization procedure, which is the homing of the existing system, and ensures both user convenience and robot safety. In addition, reflecting various customer needs, the basic type of DYNAMIXEL Y were designed so that ready-made reducers (planetary gears, worm gears, linear stages, servo cylinders, etc.) can be attached in addition to the cycloid reducer (DYD).

ROBOTIS CEO Kim Byeong-su said, "We participated in this exhibition to check the latest trends in the automation industry and secure industry competitiveness." Meanwhile, the Smart Factory & Automobile Industry Exhibition, which is in its 33rd year this year, is Asia's representative smart factory and automation specialized exhibition and consists of the International Factory Automation Exhibition, Korea Machine Vision Industry Exhibition, and Smart Factory Expo. Approximately 500 companies are participating, the largest ever, and approximately 40,000 people are expected to attend. Reporter Kim Man-ki
